We are featuring The Real Man Charities, a non-profit organization and cultural hub for men. It began as Real Men Cook, with a focus on food security, promotion of proper nutrients and community development and then expanded their objectives to include changing the perception of black and brown men within their families in a positive way. They offer mental wellness services and education on healthy eating and cooking practices. Real Men Charities also promote empowerment and relationship building events.

The Black United Fund of Illinois Safe Passage program has been recognized and sited many times over the years. As one of the original grassroots organizations to develop and implement the Safe Passage method of securing and watching over children as they go to and from schools since 2007 they set a precedent that would be replicated and followed by many others. Chicago Public Schools (CPS) even contracted and implemented the Safe Passage program city wide in 2012. Since then the BUFI Safe Passage program has continued to be a leader in providing safety and security to our communities and children.
