Today we are featuring BUFI’s Henry L. English Entrepreneurial and Business Center(EBC). One goal of EBC is to increase black ownership and help people in the community create businesses in their neighborhoods. EBC provides affordably priced office spaces, conference rooms for temporary meetings and events as well as professional and accounting services.

BUFI is helping to promote a program between Tennessee State University (TSU) and Meharry Medical College where students would attend TSU for three years, then on to Meharry, and finish with an MD or DDS in 7 years instead of the traditional 8 years. Available for black male high school seniors that want to become a medical doctor or dentist, have a 28 on the ACT, and at least a 3.5 GPA. Maya Angelou was a famous poet, receiving several honors under her name. She was also a storyteller, actor, singer, director and civil right activist. She is an inspirational figure in history and the heart of many.

Showing off ways BUFI has connected with the community. Annually we have a group bike ride around South Shore, the lake front and Hyde Park to bring awareness to health and wellness in our community. Getting to see the beauty of the area and focus on building one’s health and wellness can be fun.
